Nigeria At 65: Interrogating the Influence of Federalism on Foreign Policy Making in Nigeria
At sixty-five years of independence, Nigeria's political evolution under a federal system continues to shape its internal governance and external relations. Using the two-level game theory as its analytical framework, the study examines how domestic political structures, ethnic plurality, and subnational interests interact with external engagements. Findings reveal that foreign policy-making remains overly centralised in the executive, and recommends institutional reforms that enhance subnational participation and constitutional mechanisms for intergovernmental coordination.
